The covered patio pergola does not need to be exactly 36' x 12' like in the images on this page. The kit includes 20 2x6 rafter brackets . While the images on this page show that all 20 brackets are used to add 5 traditional roof rafters atop the beams of the pergola (each rafter running the full 36' width and covering all 3 roof sections, with far spacing between rafters), you can use the brackets any way you'd like . You can also purchase additional 2x6 rafter brackets here .
