Wood - Lumber is a) very expensive to ship and b) readily available to most people at local home improvement and building supply stores. By buying your wood locally, you also have more options on the exact type of wood you'd like that is appropriate for your area's climate.

Anchoring Hardware - While this pergola kit does include stainless steel wood screws for securing wood posts into the brackets, it does not include anchoring hardware for securing the base brackets into a secure base (i.e. cement pad, deck, landscape toppers, concrete footing, etc.) or for securing the wall mount brackets to the outside wall of your home. This is because the anchoring hardware you need will vary based on a) what type of material you're going into and b) local building codes.

As noted above, wood (lumber) is NOT included in this pergola bracket kit (nor is the hardware you'll need to anchor the base and wall-mount brackets).

Before you can build your pergola, you'll need to purchase the following items from a local building supply store or lumber yard:

- Six (6) 8' long 4x4 posts
- Two (2) 10' long 4x4 posts
- If you select a roof... Six to twenty-four (6-24) 10' long 2x4 slats *OR* four to twelve (4-12) 10' long 4x4 posts - dependent upon your roof selection
- Anchoring hardware (24 pieces)

The estimated cost for the above lumber and anchoring hardware is $294 - $604 (depending on the roof you choose) OR $256 if you purchase the frame only (no roof).

Together with the cost of this Zen Pergolas bracket kit, the estimated TOTAL ALL-IN COST for your pergola is $813 - $1579 depending on your roof selection (or $655 for the frame only). This is only an estimate... actual costs will vary depending on the type of wood you buy, your location, local stores & availability, and various other factors.
