The rectangle-shaped wood pergola does not need to be exactly 12' x 24' like in the images on this page. The kit includes 20 2x6 rafter brackets . While the images on this page show that all 20 brackets are used to add 10 traditional roof rafters atop the beams of the pergola (5 rafters over each of the two roof sections, both a 12' span with far spacing between rafters), you can use the brackets any way you'd like .
