Wood - Lumber is a) very expensive to ship and b) readily available to most people at local home improvement and building supply stores. By buying your wood locally, you also have more options on the exact type of wood you'd like that is appropriate for your area's climate.
Anchoring Hardware - While this pergola kit does include stainless steel wood screws for securing 4x4" wood posts into the brackets, it does not include anchoring hardware for securing the base brackets into a secure base (i.e. cement pad, deck, landscape toppers, concrete footing, etc.). This is because the anchoring hardware you need will vary based on a) what type of material you're going into and b) local building codes.

As noted above, wood (lumber) is NOT included in this pergola bracket kit (nor is the hardware you'll need to anchor the base brackets). Before building your pergola, you'll need to purchase the following items from a local building supply store or lumber yard (assuming the pergola will be 8' tall):
The estimated cost for the above lumber and anchoring hardware is $566 - $880 (depending on which slatted roof option you choose & whether you check the 'Add more roof brackets for more shade' box just below the roof style options) — OR — approximately $520 if you choose either the No Roof (Frame Only) or Shade Canopy roof style (neither of which has wood roof slats). This is only an estimate; actual costs may vary depending on the type of wood you buy, your location, local stores & availability, and various other factors.

Please note that the images above show a 12' x 12' pergola (not a 10' wide x 9' deep pergola for which this kit is intended). The number of roof rafters/slats will differ from what is pictured above since this kit's roof is only intended to cover the pergola's 9-foot depth (not a 12' depth). That said, the spacing between rafters/slats will be very similar to what is shown in these images.
The roof rafters on this pergola (which should be 10' long) will be mounted to the 9' beams and run the 10-foot width of the pergola (providing more shade when sunlight comes from the 10-foot width side). If you want the roof rafters to run the opposite direction (i.e. 9' long rafters connecting to the 10' beams), you'll want this 9x10 pergola kit instead.

No Roof - Frame Only changeI purchased these for connecting 4x4’s to 6x6 legs for a workbench. I need four more to put the workbench table together. They absolutely perfect for this purpose. I can’t wait to get four more!!!

We ordered the set we liked and the next day we were informed that some of the parts were back ordered. That happens and we were fine waiting a few extra weeks to receive everything. Once the brackets arrived two of the boxes had some damage to the exterior box. The packaging was so good that the interior
boxes were damage free (nice job). While we were putting our pergola together we had one rafter bracket that did not have all of the holes in it, nothing a drill and drill bit could not take care of (quality Control 4.9, it happens). We are planing to mount a swinging bed inside of the pergola so we did not use the screws provided instead we used a GRK type of structural screw with a higher weight load per screw. Overall we are very pleased with the brackets and with the ease it was to put together.
Perfect solution for my patio and helped tremendously during a slight shipping issue by UPS.
This fit my vinyl posts perfectly!
