Wood - Lumber is a) very expensive to ship and b) readily available to most people at local home improvement and building supply stores. By buying your wood locally, you also have more options on the exact type of wood you'd like that is appropriate for your area's climate.

Anchoring Hardware - While this pergola kit does include stainless steel wood screws for securing 4x4" wood posts into the brackets, it does not include anchoring hardware for securing the base brackets into a secure base (i.e. cement pad, deck, landscape toppers, concrete footing, etc.). This is because the anchoring hardware you need will vary based on a) what type of material you're going into and b) local building codes.

As noted above, wood (lumber) is NOT included in this pergola bracket kit (nor is the hardware you'll need to anchor the base brackets).

Before you can build your pergola, you'll need to purchase the following items from a local building supply store or lumber yard:

- Six (6) 8' long 4x4 posts
- Three (3) 10' long 4x4 posts
- Four (4) 12' long 4x4 posts
- If you select a roof... Eight to thirty-two (8-32) 12' long 2x4 slats *OR* six to forteen (6-14) 12' long 4x4 posts - dependent upon your roof selection
- Anchoring hardware (24 pieces)

The estimated cost for the above lumber and anchoring hardware is $482 - $905 (depending on the roof you choose) OR $423 if you purchase the frame only (no roof).

Together with the cost of this Zen Pergolas bracket kit, the estimated TOTAL ALL-IN COST for your pergola is $1261 - $2272 depending on your roof selection (or $1022 for the frame only). This is only an estimate... actual costs will vary depending on the type of wood you buy, your location, local stores & availability, and various other factors.
