Additional Information

Not Included in this Kit

Wood - Lumber is a) very expensive to ship and b) readily available to most people at local home improvement and building supply stores. By buying your wood locally, you also have more options on the exact type of wood you'd like that is appropriate for your area's climate.

Anchoring Hardware - While this pergola kit does include stainless steel wood screws for securing 4x4" wood posts into the brackets, it does not include anchoring hardware for securing the base brackets into a secure base (i.e. cement pad, deck, landscape toppers, concrete footing, etc.). This is because the anchoring hardware you need will vary based on a) what type of material you're going into and b) local building codes.

Required Lumber & Estimated Cost

As noted above, wood (lumber) is NOT included in this pergola bracket kit, nor is the hardware you'll need to anchor the base brackets. Before you can build your pergola, you'll need to purchase the following items from a local building supply store or lumber yard (assuming you plan to build a 24' x 12' pergola that is 8' tall):

  • Six (6) 8' long 6x6 posts
  • Seven (7) 12' long 6x6 posts
  • Twenty-two (22) 12' long 2x6 slats
  • Anchoring hardware (24 pieces)

Together with the cost of this Zen Pergolas bracket kit, the estimated total all-in cost for your pergola is $3004. This is only an estimate; actual costs will vary depending on your location, the type of wood you decide to buy, local stores & availability, and various other factors.

This free standing wooden pergola kit with roof will accommodate any stand-alone pergola ranging from 13-24 feet by 4-12 feet. The pergola does not need to be exactly 24' x 12' like in the images on this page.

The kit includes 33 2x6 rafter brackets. While the images on this page show that these 33 brackets are used to add 11 traditional roof rafters atop the beams of the pergola (each rafter running the full 24' width and covering both roof sections, with close spacing between rafters), you can use the brackets any way you'd like. You can also purchase additional 2x6 rafter brackets here.

Well Made.

Well made product and works well holding 6x6 posts in place. The only thing I would recommend would be holes in bottom for drainage.

Hey Brian, thank you for the great review and thank you for the feedback. We've received this feedback from others in the past and it's something that we're working on implementing right now. Within a month or so all base brackets will include a hole in the base for drainage.

Great Quality

These angle braces were really heavy duty - much more-so than I expected. Also, the braces arrived very quickly. Great service
