Wood - Lumber is a) very expensive to ship and b) readily available to most people at local home improvement and building supply stores. By buying your wood locally, you also have more options on the exact type of wood you'd like that is appropriate for your area's climate.
Anchoring Hardware - While this pergola kit does include stainless steel wood screws for securing 4x4" wood posts into the brackets, it does not include anchoring hardware for securing the base brackets into a secure base (i.e. cement pad, deck, landscape toppers, concrete footing, etc.) or for securing the wall mount brackets to the outside wall of your home. This is because the anchoring hardware you need will vary based on a) what type of material you're going into and b) local building codes.

As noted above, wood (lumber) is NOT included in this pergola bracket kit, nor is the hardware you'll need to anchor the base brackets and wall-mount brackets. Before you can build your pergola, you'll need to purchase the following items from a local building supply store or lumber yard (assuming you plan to build a 36' x 12' pergola that is 8' tall):
Together with the cost of this Zen Pergolas bracket kit, the estimated total all-in cost for your pergola is $7855. This is only an estimate; actual costs will vary depending on your location, the type of wood you decide to buy, local stores & availability, and various other factors.

This outdoor pergola attached to house kit will accommodate any wall-mounted pergola ranging from 25-36 feet wide (attached to house) by 4-12 feet deep (out from the house). The pergola does not need to be exactly 36' x 12' like in the images on this page.
The kit includes 108 6x6 insert brackets. While the images on this page show that 36 of these brackets are used to add 18 square inline 6x6 roof rafters to your pergola (6 rafters to each of the three roof sections, all a 12' span with close spacing between rafters) and the remaining 72 brackets are used to add three privacy walls with 12 square 6x6 slats each (all 8' tall with close spacing between slats), you can use the brackets any way you'd like (i.e. adding another privacy wall or half/partial wall, adding a side railing, etc.). You can also purchase additional 6x6 insert brackets here.

My son and I both purchased your products — they are of the highest quality and looks — thanks to your efforts, my home is better for what you have achieved
The service was perfect. Questions were answered.
The brackets are exceptional. In 2015 I built a pergola using the product of the time TOJA. We moved to a new home and needed a new pergola. Having experience and improved creativity I found the Zen company. There are many companies out there. Zen uses the same 12 gauge thickness steel. Both companies do well there. Zen has better welds, better fit on the 6x6 lumber with every joint, fit, and weld being precise. Along the way you save about 30%.
I really could not be happier.
the brackets where really well built well easy to assemble just like a giant Lincoln logs set
Perfect! Exactly what I needed…thanks!
